# Position Information

Job Description
The Saluda Residency - King & Queen AHQ is seeking qualified individuals to perform a combination of skilled equipment operation, preventive maintenance and manual labor but may fill additional vacant positions at Mathews AHQ, Gloucester AHQ, Middlesex AHQ, Rumford AHQ and Tappahannock AHQ in the Saluda Residency as well. Equipment operation includes but is not limited to backhoe, dump truck, loader, motorgrader, tractor/bush hog and similar equipment. Flag traffic, set up work zones and traffic control, cut brush, clean ditches/debris and patch potholes. Position will install, maintain and repair signs and posts on roadways, remove signs as needed and assist tracking sign inventory and maintain records. Perform emergency roadway operations as an essential employee during snow/severe weather events and other emergency events; must be willing to work outside of normal work hours during emergency conditions.

## Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures. Demonstrated experience in equipment operation and performing preventive maintenance. Knowledge of Safety policies, procedures, and programs. Skill in the operation and maintenance of hand-held and power tools and light, medium, and heavy duty equipment used for highway maintenance and repair. Ability to perform heavy manual labor; and to read and to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 6 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
## Preferred Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements. Experience in the maintenance and/or construction of roadways.
## Special Requirements

Safety shoes are required in performance of job duties. Fingerprint background check, references, work history, and DMV records will be verified prior to employment. **Pre-employment physical with drug screen will be required.**
This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job is required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations.
